استیون هال در سال ۱۹۴۷ در برمرتون واشنگتن متولد شد. او از دانشگاه واشنگتن فارغ التحصیل شد و بعدها در رم تحصیلات معماری را دنبال کرد. در سال ۱۹۷۶ در انجمن معماری لندن شرکت کرد و معماران استیون هال را در شهر نیویورک تأسیس کرد. استیون هال که یکی از مهم ترین معماران آمریکا محسوب می شود و به دلیل توانایی اش در ترکیب فضا و نور با حساسیت زمینه ای بالا و استفاده از ویژگی های منحصر به فرد هر پروژه برای ایجاد یک طرح مفهومی شناخته شده است. او در ادغام یکپارچه پروژه های جدید در زمینه‌هایی با اهمیت فرهنگی و تاریخی خاص تخصص دارد.

Stephen Holl was born in 1947 in Bremerton, Washington. He graduated from the University of Washington and later studied architecture in Rome. In 1976 he attended the Architectural Institute of London and founded Stephen Holl His Architects in New York City. In 2002, Cooper’s Hewitt National Design Museum, part of the Smithsonian Institution, presented him with the prestigious National Design Award for Architecture. In 2001, France awarded him the Grande Medaille d’Or as the best architect of the Academy of Architecture. That same year, Time magazine named him “America’s Best Architect” for his “buildings that satisfy both the mind and the eye.”
